Hello!

My name is Muriel Schiffmann… I am passionate about cooking and baking and I enjoy so much sharing good moments in the kitchen and around a table with lifelong or new friends…

My background is not traditional, I was privileged to train with excellent French and international chefs but very quickly I had to adapt what I was learning to a cuisine that was closer to the values I cherish. I started to cook only vegetarian meals and took up the challenge of opening a vegetarian bakery in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Basic Foodie. We were also offering breakfast and casual lunches and in the afternoons, when the kitchen was available, I was teaching vegetarian baking and cooking classes.  

Gradually I was committed to cooking and developing exclusively vegan recipes in order to further reduce the impact of human beings on animals and the planet and we quickly became suppliers of several restaurants in the region.

I get a lot of inspiration, ingredients and techniques from cuisines of all around the world.   Far from being limitative, I find vegan cuisine extremely inspiring and diverse!

I now live in Strasbourg, France, and I have chosen to focus mainly on classes because I really enjoy sharing the pleasure of cooking and I love these moments shared in the kitchen with other passionate foodies…
